I'm currently immersed in the deluxe edition of David Bowie's eponymous first album. Sitting somewhere between Syd Barrett and Lionel Bart, this remastered double CD includes stereo and mono LP mixes and a wealth of singles and rare tracks. I've always been rather fond of this album which has been dismissed by it's author and fans alike. If you are familiar with the later Ziggy and Thin White Duke eras then you may find these charming and whimsical tracks somewhat confusing. Don't be fooled, they're as theatrical and experimental as anything in Bowie's catalogue. Ever the pioneer, Bowie showcased the songs in the promotional film Love You til Tuesday, a fore-runner to the modern pop video.
